On the website, women against abuse, shares a story of how a woman was a victim of domestic violence and how she got through it. Kathleen’s Story, the name of the article, states the facts of how Kathleen get through her tragic life. Being abused not only physically but mentally really affected her life. How can someone go through this and not speak up?

Kathleen was married to a husband that would abuse her mentally. One day she was attacked brutally, leaving with severe concussion. She woke up in a hospital, not remember a thing. Kathleen was in a safe haven in July 2010 after recovering from the violent attack. “Kathleen had to rebuild her life, find a new school for her children, regain control of her finances, and find a permanent home she could afford”, (Kathleen’s Story).  She made the decision to take her children and start a new life. A program called Women Against Abuse’s Safe at Home, were able to help Kathleen and her family. They helped her with giving her an opportunity to own a home. Kathleen also took advice, referrals for child support, and a divorce from her partner. “Kathleen has become a passionate advocate in the movement to end domestic violence”(Kathleen’s Story), and is living a better life now.

I am glad Kathleen spoke up and conquered her situation. No one should be a victim of domestic violence. It makes her a very strong person and a role model to others who are going through the same situation she was in.
