Ann’s Story
In the article, Ann’s Story, she shared
her personal story of her boyfriend’s abusive actions and raped her. Not only
did he rape her but he would bring her down by abusing her mentally. After the
rape, she would try to commit suicide by cutting herself. Anne also shares that
she was abused as a child. That is the reason why she started cutting herself. She
cut herself to deep that she had to be rushed to the hospital.
“[She] started to get counseling and had
to deal with all the childhood abuse, and also all the alcohol and drugs [she]
had done and all the people [she] had slept with”, this help was a step closer
to being healthy (Ann’s Story). She vented to the counselor about her cutting
herself and how she felt that she was going crazy. Ann hated herself, and it
was a good choice to be part of a support group and getting anti-depressant
because it really helped her. Ann’s sister and friends were there to support
her and help her out. They saved her life, even though she had put them through
hell.
If you are ignoring the fact that you are
being abused and hoping the person will change, it will not get any better. You
have to speak up and let someone know the situation. You have to be your own
friend. You have to have compassion for yourself. You have to forgive yourself.
You deserve better. You are a precious human being and you deserve to be
treated with respect (Ann’s story).
